Summary: Text box entry: old text not being removed when new text is entered

Description Raould 2013-09-27 17:00:42 UTC
Problem description: Text in text boxes does not disappear when user starts to type new text.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open a dialog box, such as Find & Replace
2. Enter a word in the Search for box (e.g. "Horse")
3. Highlight the word, replace it with another word (e.g. "Cow")

Current behavior: The new text overlays the old text, making it illegible and confusing the user as to what is actually in the box.

Expected behavior: As soon as the user starts typing the second word, the original word, and its highlighting, should disappear. Even highlighting the word and hitting the backspace key should delete the word - it does not.

Operating System: Linux (Other)
Version: 4.1.1.2 release

do you have possibility to screen record it?
I do not understand exactly the steps to reproduce

I do not reproduce with LO 4.1.3.0.0+ under Ubuntu 13.04 x86-64.

If you can't provide a screen record, please attach a screencopy showing how the dialog looks like.

Best regards. JBF

Jean-Baptiste,

I had to uninstall 4.1 and go back to 4.0, more due to a different bug than this
one (calculations were not happening, even though automatic calculation was
checked on - was affecting both direct entry and link updates, which made it
impossible for me to use 4.1).

Therefore, I cannot reproduce the problem any more! It was happening, by the
way, both in Linux Mint and Windows 7.

@Raould
try downloading the portable LibO 4.1.1 version from this link:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/winpenpack/files/X-LibreOffice/releases/X-LibreOffice_4.1.1_rev16.zip/download (Windows only)

so you won't need to uninstall your current 4.0

and tell us if it's still reproducible in Win7.
set status to NEEDINFO
