Finnish hyphenation is handled by Voikko extension. Make sure you have Voikko installed (Tools > Extension Manager) and that Finnish hyphenation is enabled (Tools > Options > Language Settings > Writing Aids > Available language modules > Tavutus). For detailed instructions in Finnish, see http://voikko.puimula.org/ooo-kielityokalut.html I think this may basically be a bug in the user interface. If I untick the Finnish hyphenation module and then choose Tools > Language > Hyphenation, LibreOffice tells me that the hyphenation has been completed even when nothing has actually been done. Instead the user should be informed that the applicable language module is not available or has not been activated. (Tested in 3.5.4.2 on Debian and in 4.1.2.3 on Windows; this bug is probably inherited from OOo.) Summary amended for clarity. The process still ends with "Hyphenation completed" message, but when initiated for the first time, it now warns the user of missing hyphenation support for Finnish.
