Example file for reproducing the error

I am working on two machines, one running with Linux Mint 15 KDE (LO 4.0.2.2), the other one running with Kubuntu 12.10 (LO 4.1.3.2) --- both in german language.

After opening an ods file created with LO 4.0.2.2, the current version of LO 4.1.3.2 creashes. I could reproduce the origin of this bug, which is related to 4.1.3.2:

When I create the attached spreadsheed, there is no problem. I use the formula 'WENN(A1=KGRÖSSTE(A1:A7;1);1;0)'. There is also no probem, When I enlarge the cell range at formula from A1:A29.

But when I use 'WENN(A1=KGRÖSSTE(A1:30;1);1;0)', LO crashes without any error message.

On pc Debian x86-64 with 4.1 sources updated some days ago, I don't reproduce this.
Would it be possible you retrieve a backtrace by following this link? https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#GNU.2FLinux:_How_to_get_a_backtrace

I just added a backtrack as an attachment.

Thank you Daniel for your feedback.
I put it at NEW since there's a bt attached.

By looking at the bt, it seems the pb is there:

Lubos/Michael: one for you?

Actually crash seems to initiate from here:

I can't reproduce, not in master and not in 4.1.3
Comment 7 Julien Nabet 2013-11-06 06:29:58 UTC
Daniel:
did you install any LO specific extensions?
For the test, could you rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile) and give it a new try?

I don't think the problem comes from the profile but at least, we'll be sure of it.
Comment 8 Daniel Wunderlich 2013-11-06 08:54:40 UTC
I renamed the user-profile to user.bak and started LO. A new user directory appeared (as expected), but LO still crashes after I changed

'WENN(A1=KGRÖSSTE(A1:29;1);1;0)'

to

'WENN(A1=KGRÖSSTE(A1:30;1);1;0)'.

And I haven't installed any extentions -- as far as i know. Ich checked the 'Extension Manager' and it is empty.

I'll install 'naked' Kubuntu 13.10 inside a virtual machine and try to reproduce it there.

Interesting, KGROSSTE is a built-in function, so no UNO / exceptions -> ocLarge -> the ScLarge member.

The trace looks to me like a pure KDE/Qt bug - as such, can you try:

export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen
pkill -9 -f soffice.bin
localc

and see if you can reproduce the issue ? if not - then can you change the component to "Graphics Stack" and add a KDE: suffix to the title ? :-)

Thanks !
Comment 10 Daniel Wunderlich 2013-11-06 11:19:50 UTC
I tried

export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen
pkill -9 -f soffice.bin
localc

and could reproduce the bug, Calc still crashs. :o( But I can see an UI change -- I assume the commands disable the usage of KDE stuff inside LO?

I now try the new installation of Kubuntu 13.10.
Comment 11 Daniel Wunderlich 2013-11-06 11:43:05 UTC
Okay, now I am totally confused ...

I used a clean Kubuntu 13.10 installtion inside a VirtualBox vm and created a new spreadsheet only using natural numbers and "WENN(A1=KGRÖSSTE(A1:A30;1);1;0)". No crash occurs. The same with 1,5; 2,5; ... ;30,5.

When I copied my original data row

26,5
25
34
23,5
28,5
28,5
...
31,5
34,5
17

LO also crashed. So it doesn't have to do with my personal Kubuntu setup, but maybe has to do with KGRÖSSTE and the concrete numbers.

And one additional information: The bug also occurs when I only use KGRÖSSTE without WENN.

Wonderful - can you get another stack trace in gdb with the export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gen - the best way to do that is run and then:

ps auwx | grep soffice.bin
gdb
attach <pid-of-soffice.bin>
continue

Hopefully we can get a trace that is related to the underlying issue then ! :-)

Thanks for chasing this - it sounds really annoying !
