Hi David, I can't reproduce de crash, but if I understand right the issue appears after a while working with the file, maybe is in relation with bug: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71409 It might be related but, as far as I can see, bug 71409 does not cause a crash. But this bug, 71943, does David Lynch LO is still crashing frequently because of this bug. (No work is lost, LO recovers the data.) I have tried running from a console, but I don't seem to get any additional information. I have attached a file exhibiting the bug, but others cannot make LO crash. Is there a way in which I could provide you with more evidence of this bug? Hi David, Which version of windows were you running that caused the crash? Does it need to be complex formulas that crash it? No. The crashes occur only on spreadsheets with many complex formulas. They occur *only* immediately after hitting enter on a formula: the formula being entered does not have to be complex. The spreadsheet can be recovered. After recovery, re-entering the same formula that caused the crash does *not* cause a crash. A crash will recur only after working on the spreadsheet for some time after recovery. The hardware on the machine exhibiting this bug is unreliable (it refuses often to reboot). I now have a Windows 8.1 machine. I have seen this bug on the Windows 8.1 machine, but it is much rarer. David Lynch Unfortunately, i've tried to crash the attached file on Windows XP SP3 with adding various small calculations across the spreadsheet but it didnt happen. Its difficult for us to reproduce a crash that only happens some of the time, as you stated. Please try upgrading to 4.1.6 or 4.2.4 and see if the same crashes happen. I'd advice upgrading XP to SP3 as well. With 4.2.4, you will be able to send us a backtrace using the information found at < https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/How_to_get_a_backtrace_with_WinDbg >. Created attachment 89687 [details] Spreadsheet that exhibits this bug I have a fairly large and very complex spreadsheet (attached): Number of sheets 12 Number of cells 123562 Number of pages 55 size 1.23 Mb much calculation (typically about 200 cells aren't formulas) and many array formulas. Often, but not always, when I add a formula to this spreadsheet, CALC crashes saying Calc has an unexpected error and is saving. I can then recover the spreadsheet and adding the new formula now works. There appears to be no dump or other information to aid diagnosis. LibreOffice crashed with the attached spreadsheet and message. Due to an unexpected error, LibreOffice crashed. All the files you are working on will be saved now. The next time LibreOffice is launched, your files will be recovered automatically. This was run from a command prompt: there were no messages in the command prompt. Before the crash, I entered the formula: =OFFSET($AG$36,ROW()-36,ROW()-36) into cell W.J36. It crashes only when I add a formula and enter it (and not always then). I recovered the spreadsheet and re-entered the formula: this time it worked. I am running 4.0.5.2 on Windows.
