Description Lew 2014-01-05 14:42:55 UTC
Problem description: Always get error 1901

Steps to reproduce:
1. download the *.msi
2. install

Current behavior: After a 'copying files' step, I'm getting error 1901: “Error attempting to read from the source installation database: C:\Windows\Installer\[…].msi

When I check, the directory C:\Windows\Installer doesn’t exist. Various solutions on the web, but none are working.

Expected behavior: a clean install

I've disabled Vipre and SuperAntiSpyware. Still no luck.

FWIW, two additional observations.

When it failed, I lost the previous installation of 4.1.3.2 -- I had no access to LOO at all. This included my jumplists from the taskbar icons. Those were the main reason I switched from AOO, because of my daily workflow.

I was just able to reinstall 4.1.3.2, no problems, from an old *.msi file from November.
Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.1.4.2 release

Please check hashes of your 4.1.4 download. The checksums are always available by following Info and Hashes link on download page.

What bfoman says. Did you try to download another time and then try again to install? Maybe something went wrong with the download.

4.1.4.2 has installed OK. Thanks.

I had tried a couple times from the main web site. I downloaded from Indiana on bfoman's mirrorlist and tried again. It installed without a hitch.

Thanks again.

However...

Not huge deals, but I'll report the inconvenience below. Maybe an easy fix... :-(

1) I've had to re-pin Writer and Calc to the task bar.

2) I have to re-populate those icons' jumplists to my frequently-accessed files. I know they're available in File/Recent Documents, but that functionality IS different. They do appear in the jumplists, so I can pin them, after opening them from File/Recent.

Keep up the good work.

Let's close this bug as worksforme since the initial problem was solved now.

As for the icons: If this is reproducible for you, you can open a new bug report for this problem (one report per bug :)
