test file without CR
Created some simple test files these take 4s and 19s to save on my PC. Only difference is that 2000 of the cells in the file "test with CR.ods" have carriage returns. All the other cells are identical. NoRepro:4.2.0.2:OSX Both test files save in under 1 sec here. Is this bug still valid / reproducible with the latest pre-release 4.2.0.2: http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/ Please also try resetting your user profile and let us know if that helps: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile Should this be still reproducible for you with the latest LO release please set this bug back to UNCONFIRMED. Should this issue be solved set it to WORKSFORME. Setting to NEEDINFO until more detail is provided. Both test files save in less than 1 second on release candidate, huge improvement. Original spreadsheet saves in 7s which is now faster than open office. Does seem quite unstable though, hung once during save as while I was testing. If I can reproduce the hang systematically will raise separate defect report. Tried using the release candidate today, it hung about once every hour. Doesn't look to be related to save, seems quite random. (This is an automated message.) This bug is not a MAB and in NEEDINFO, thus gradually adjusting priority to high. Please see the QA mailing list or the ESC call minutes for details. @wirc do you still see issue with LibO 4.2.3.3? did you find reproducible steps to show the bug? No problem on 4.2.2.1. Also stability is much improved. Still a few display issues but these are not critical. (In reply to comment #10) > No problem on 4.2.2.1. glad to hear that. > Also stability is much improved. Still a few display issues but these are > not critical. feel free to report them in a separate bug with proper description and steps to reproduce. |
Problem description: Carriage return characters in cells cause very slow save Steps to reproduce: Use a reasonable size ods file spreadsheet, mine is 2MB. Add carriage returns in the text of around 2000 cells Save the spreadsheet Current behavior: Takes 30 seconds to save the spreadsheet Without the carriage return characters takes around 5 s Expected behavior: Take 5s to save I found this bug when trying to work out why Libre Office is so slow compared to Excel and Open Office. Hope we can get a fix in the next release, I am going back to Open Office until then as this is a show stopper for me. Operating System: Windows 7 Version: 4.1.4.2 release
