Description Gabriel Melo 2014-03-16 14:11:59 UTC
Problem description: Whenever I create a horizontal line using (---) it cannot be deleted. I try pressing delete or selecting the horizontal line and I still can't delete it, instead it deletes the following content of the document.

Operating System: Windows 7
Version: 4.2.1.1 release
Comment 1 Jorendc 2014-03-16 16:57:43 UTC
Thanks for reporting!
I can reproduce this behavior, tested using Mac OSX 10.9 with LibreOffice Version: 4.3.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: 88955714d345d8584e86ae34bf5f5d1f3f4af9f7
TinderBox: MacOSX-x86@49-TDF, Branch:master, Time: 2014-03-15_04:16:49

Looks like some weird selection behavior:
* Open Writer
* Type 3 times _
* Press enter
* Select the horizontal line
* Press delete/backspace

Behavior: as mentioned, horizontal line doesn't go away

* Press return multiple times

Behavior: with every new line, a new horizontal line is created

Kind regards,
Joren

Hi,

Did you try to put the cursor in the paragraph, or select it completely, and choose "Format > Clear direct formatting", or Ctrl+M ?

Or open the dialog Format > Paragraph and look at the tab Border :)

Cheers,
Cor

I tried it now and it's worked, even though it's quite counterintuitive. Thanks for your help.

Cheers,
Gabriel

You mean that typing = three times and then hitting Enter and then see a line appearing is intuitive ... Come on ;)

I'm sure he meant your deleting-method worked, but that's very unintuitive. Actually, I totally agree on that.

Of course I agree on that too ;)

One needs to know what it is, to be able to get ridd of it. It isn't some sort of object/drawing line ...

Right, and I think the latter is the problem for a fix :-). We can't handle it as such, so we have to delete it as a formatting.

Lets keep this one as RESOLVED WORKSFORME. We might want to watch/count this questions/bug reports, and take further action if necessary.

Thanks Cor :)!

Of course I had to learn this one the 'hard way' too ;) (long time ago)
And it pops up regularly.
I guess it's at our FAQ somewhere ?

A pop-up / info bar showing for a moment mentioning
  "border has been applied to the paragraph formatting"
or somesuch would be helpful, I guess...
