Hi Thunde, thanks for reporting. After select both columns go to Menu/Data/Sort, there you can set up the columns for sort in the order you like. Not always is possible the software can guess our intentions. I think it is not a bug, please if you are not agree reopen it. Thanks for answer. I know that trick with Menu/Data/Sort. But I want to do this operation with button on panel. I don't know the situation, when such conduct this button demand. Can you explain me why it do that action like now? Because there are empty rows The Menu option it's not a tricky, is the proper way, and if you define a range in Menu/Data/Range, and after set up the sort order in Menu/Data/Sort it's preserved for the future, and if you click on the sort button while in any place of defined range their options are applied. I think I have found a tricky: Select both columns through their header, right-click on some cell in column B, and without select nothing in the pop-up menu click the sort button. Ok. I understood. But this method is not obvious. I have saw another method but it is not obvious too. Also we can set focus on target col with double Ctrl+LMC. I still think that by default would be right way to extend selection not only to first empty cell, but to last not empty cell. But we found trick and I can work and if you do not agree for my opinion for default action you can close this report. I will agree your decision. Thanks for your time :) I think it's better close this one, and if you like open one new as request for enhancement (in the importance select enhancement instead normal). Maybe it was discussed in the Mailing List at some time, you can try to find something there. http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/LibreOffice-f1639495.html |
Created attachment 96131 [details] Archive with 2 files: document + screenshot Problem description: I tried to sort list of dates with empty rows and can not do it. I need to sort by second column and I can not select all list because I will get sort by first column. After a choose Extend Selection I saw that Calc suggest exted selection up to first empty row, but this is wrong imho. Steps to reproduce: 1. Fill 2 cols of data with empty rows among one 2. Try to sort with Extend Selection Current behavior: Sort with Extend Selection work only up to first empty rows Expected behavior: Sort with Extend Selection must work for all selected rows
