Problem description:
After working with xls or xlsx file, i save it and close it. After that, when i open it again, i see the Calc opening and the opening bar (the green bar below) reaches to the end and then the Calc closes itself.

The file, i used before, is corrupt and i cant open it with Excel or any Excel like application.

I see, on the file location, the file and also the lock file (xlsx#). I can still open other Calc files. I have installed Libreoffice again (2x), still the same problem.

I do not reproduce with Version: 4.2.3.1
Build ID: 3d4fc3d9dbf8f4c0aeb61498a81f91c5b7922f13 Ubuntu 13.10, the file opens fine. Could you try with this last version to see if it's better or if it's a Windows only bug? Sophie

Found possible solution ?.
After uninstalling Libreoffice and installing again v4.2.2 i got (during installation) 2 errors.
One of them was related to Firefox (i needed to close it to continue installation of Libreoffice).
Second one was FxControlWin.exe, which is a part of programming environment for industrial logic controllers. After closing it and services depending on it, i could continue with installation. And after that i got my damaged files open (but there was alot weird stuff, like boxes for comments, the amont of them has been multiplied by 20)

I can open, edit and save Calc files, if secondly described program is not started.

Hi, so my advice would be: if you are working, use a stable version 4.1.5 for example, if you want to test, use the last RC: 4.2.3.1. When reinstalling make sure to make a clean install: remove your old profile, remove all of the old install traces.
The multiplication of notes was a known issue with 4.2.x series. I'm closing this bug. Please open another issue for other problems you may find. Thanks! Sophie
