Hi Mark, Thanks for writing! However, I'm used to the behaviour that the windows Style and Formatting and Navigator do dock with a newly opened document, if they are in that state in the current document. Pls try that. Cor The secret is that you have to dock it in every single instance of Writer (for good measure, I did so in Calc as well) that is open. This seems to finally convince it that you don't want a salad of Style boxes open all over your desktop. This also seems to have "convinced" it even after fully closing. Somehow, this wasn't an obvious solution to me, as I have suffered with the behavior for more than a year (I don't remember precisely, but at some point, LibreOffice started randomly raising any window that got focus, ignoring the windowing manager, which very quickly made this a real problem.) I was unable to find any explanation of how to get it to do what I wanted, so maybe this needs to be better documented. Closing as NOTABUG. |
Problem description: (Feature Request) Currently, any new document is always generated in two windows. If you focus windows on hover, this can lead to situations where it is nearly impossible to work because of the "connected" windows. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open Writer 2. .... 3. .... Current behavior: The current behavior is probably correct for most users. Two windows are generated, one for styles, one for the document. Expected behavior: There should be a setting to allow the user to prefer that the style window is generated "docked", rather than having to dock it manually every time.
