When I try to open the menu "Insert" --> "Fields" --> "other" with the "Strg+F2" shortcut, nothing happens.

thanks for reporting!
It works fine for me in all recent versions (32 bits Linux). Can you pls try 4.2.4.2 or 4.2.3.3?
