Description Nikey1410 2014-05-29 09:14:39 UTC
Problem description:
I want to type a special sequence of letters in a cell, but it don't work.
The sequence should look like this: IOnIOPO, IUkOIKJ, UZnKMJU or RTiERAK.
The first two letters should be in capital letters, followed by a single small letter an then followed by capital letters again.
Calc correct it falsely to IonIOPO, IukOIKJ, UznKMJU or RtiERAK.

Steps to reproduce:
1. pick a cell
2. type in the sequence (as mentioned above)
3. ENTER

Current behavior:
correct falsely the second letter

Expected behavior:
calc should not correct the second capital letter to a small letter. The program should do nothing after typing in.

Version the bug appeared:
4.3 beta
4.4 alpha
(4.2 - not tested)
Operating System: Windows 8
Version: 4.3.0.0.beta1

Hi Nickey,

Have you tried turning of settings in Tools > Autocorrect options?
Cheers,
Cor

Hello,

yes, I deactivate autocorrect, but it does not help.
The second letter is always changed by calc in the special situation I
described.

When I uncheck "correct two capital letters at the beginning of a word" (or something like that, the characters aren't changed for me. I cannot confirm you problem. Working on Ubuntu.

Hello,

I work with Windows 8.1 and Libreoffice 4.2.5.1.
I thought I explained it in a way, that anyone else would understand it.
It's a little bit frustrating.
OK, new try. I attached screenshots and please look closely at the
second letter.
I hope you see what I mean and understand it.

Hi, I'm a Windows7x64 user.

the problem you describe is due to collision with "Correct TWO INitial CApitals" option like Cor already said.

to disable it go in:
Tools/Autocorrect Options/Options/Correct TWO INitial CApitals

and remove the tick from it (try doing the same in a Calc document where there's a single tick and in a Writer document as well where there are 2 ticks).

If you do this the issue is gone.

tested with 4.3.1.2 and recent 4.4.0.0 master.

I set status to RESOLVED WORKSFORME (but probably it should be labeled as NOTABUG)
feel free to revert status if you still reproduce the bug after following those instructions; in that case we should think of a specific Win8.1 issue.

edited summary notes.
