Description Louic Vermeer 2014-06-16 09:49:50 UTC
Problem description:

Steps to reproduce:
1. Enter the value -0.001 in a cell
2. Change formatting to two decimal places only

Current behavior:
Value is shown as 0.00

Expected behavior:
Value should be shown as -0.00. Why? Because when it is used in a computation, say we multiply it with a positive value, the result shown is negative and appears to be wrong because it appears we are multiplying two positive numbers.

Hi Louic, thanks for reporting.

I think not a bug 0.00 is 0.

But it's easy to format the cell to achieve what you want.
[Ctrl+1] or Menu/Format/Cell
Set format code to:
0.00;[RED]-0.00

Hi,

Thanks for your clarification. Maybe it is not a bug but rather a matter of opinion about the default settings (I will stick with my initial opinion if you don't mind).

Fortunately it is easy enough to change the cell format so I am happy with that as a solution. Marked resolved/notabug.

Fortunately everyone can think as likes, this is an open project.
