Description disturbicus 2014-07-12 17:10:16 UTC
Attempted to add AutoText button to the Standard Toolbar. X froze and system required restart. System returns normally except the Taskbar in MATE is now gone. Writer opens normally, but the Menu while visible does not function. AutoText button appears on the Standard Toolbar and appears functional. After another restart each opening of LibreOffice removes the Taskbar in MATE. Mint 16, Petra.

Hi disturbicus,

Thank you for reporting the bug. Another user has reported the same issue in bug 80060 and concluded that disabling compositing in linux mint mate solves the issue.

If possible, can you please let us know what graphics card your system is running on and which version of mate panel you are using.

Respond Jay Philips. System hardware in question: Intel Pentium G3220 with integrated Intel HD Graphics. No card. MATE panel is 1.6.1 TNX.

Thanks for the reply. Where you able to disable compositing and if so, did it solve your issue. If you dont know how to disable compositing, have a look at this link - < http://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/1210 >.

Jay, thanks for your prompt responses. Actually, I was in the middle of something that required everything to be working, so I backed off to the original package which provided 4.1.3.2 and pilloried myself for thinking I needed an autotext button that badly. When time permits, I'll try the upgrade again and experiment with compositing settings. As always, you guys are great.

Jay,
Have again installed 4.2.5.2 and with compositing disabled all appears to be well. Thanks for your help on this.
