Hi I have been playing around and by opening the .xls file using the 'Text CSV' file type I have been successful. Obviously the .xls file that I have is not really a properly formatted .xls file. Thank you for your help but my problem has been solved. Do I need to tick any boxes to complete the process as far as you are concerned? Many thanks and sorry for the red herring.
