Hi Laurent, Thanks for filing this. Apparently the added feature that Enter pastes the copied selection, has preference over that option? The second time you hit Enter, it does enter edit mode. I do not know what should be expected, honestly. Cheers, Cor Seems the strange thing is:
> Steps to reproduce:
> 1. Check the option "Hit enter to go into editing mode"
> 2. The copy a cell C1 with CRTL-C
> 3. Go another cell C2
> 4. Hit Enter
After step 4, content of C1 pasted to C2 (though we don't instruct or hit ctrl-v to paste).
Sorry..only tested with LO 4.0.6.2 - Win7 x86. But I guess this bug exist in latest version as reported by Laurent.

Sorry..just realized that feature exists :)
Perhaps enabling "Hit enter to go into editing mode" should override that feature

If you copy and go to another cell, then the intention is to paste.. If you change your mind, hit ESC (the animated selection is removed), and then Enter, and you are in the edit mode. I tend to set this to WONTFIX/NOTABUG.. (In reply to comment #1) Hi Cor, > Hi Laurent, > > Thanks for filing this. > Apparently the added feature that Enter pastes the copied selection, has > preference over that option? Can that feature be disabled ? I can't find it in the options, nor in the keyboard shortcuts. Given that Paste already has a shortcut (CTRL-V), I don't see much value in that feature. Anyway, it would be nice to get warning when the 2 feature conflicts. Bests, Laurent As written before: I think it's not a logic work flow that you copy fist and then do not paste, but enter a cell in edit mode. So for that case, use ESC. The feature is added since people know and appreciate it from Excel. Where would you expect that warning? It's difficult to make it not disturbing, maybe confusing. And in the end Ctrl+Z is your friend too. Sorry, I'm not convinced. It's easy enough to mark this new and enhancement, but looks as making wrong expectations, IMO. Cheers, Decide to set as Works for me. One knowing how to use Enter may be able to use ESC too in this case ;) *** Bug 85545 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** clarify summary for easier finding |
