There is option to export chart from Calc to picture as StarDraw 2.0 (which is old). In reality, this option do nothing. I suggest to remove it from list of available file formats.

I can reproduce with Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha0+

David Tardon committed a patch related to this issue.
It has been pushed to "master":

tdf#85195 only check export formats for default format

It will be available in 4.5.0.

The patch should be included in the daily builds available at
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/ in the next 24-48 hours. More

Affected users are encouraged to test the fix and report feedback.
