1. Open any.ods file from Windows desktop
2. Open Writer with empty document
3. Close Calc
4. Try to delete any.ods from desktop to trash -- bug here 'file locked'
5. Close Writer
6. Try to delete any.ods from desktop to trash -- ok, deleted.

LO 4.3.5
Windows 10 Tech preview build 9879 (64 bit) runned in VirtualBox 4.3.20

I can not confirm with LO 4.3.5, win7

I can confirm with LO 4.3.5, win7 (.xls with XML format). 
.ods, .xlsx format not affected.

Confirm. Win 8.1 32-bit / LO 4.4.0.1 (4.4RC1).

Note that you don't need "example" files. Just create new one, even empty, in Microsoft Office 2003 XML format (see description of bug 88022), close and open it again. It will stay locked until soffice.bin terminates.

It has no relation to Writer.

Repro 5.4. WFM 6.2+.
