Description Damon 2015-08-13 19:39:38 UTC
I have a row of negative currency values, when the SUM (Sigma button) is selected and the range then selected, it places SUM() in the last cell and not SUM(A1:A20) for example. Will not calculate range with negative values.

Try to auto-generate =SUM(C2:C12) total for cell C13.

The cells which you want sum have text not values. They are also formatted as text @.

Is possible to convert into numbers, select the data, then Menu/Data/Text to columns, click on the column head and select type as US English.

Calc is very strict in accept text as number in formulas, and only try to convert text to values in direct references, but none in a range as used in a SUM() function.

In this case sigma doesn't work because there are not values to sum. Doing the conversion s mentioned it works as expected.

Resolved as not bug, please if you are not agree reopen it.

Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I did notice when I manually entered the same negative values, it worked. I must have overlooked the cell format when the data was imported.
