I think that double side printing is an important feature, and normally we structure documents so that they must be printed double sided.

Now LO offers this feature at printer level.

If no printer is defined, double side cannot be set.

I don't know the reason why the feature has been coded at printer level, but I'm going to explain what results from that.

User case:

- I prepare a document on a LO installation where a double side capable printer is present, I print it, and save
- If I open it again and print it, it prints double side as I left it
- After that I pass the document to a friend of mine which has a printer which isn't double side capable. My friend modifies the document and returns it to me
- I open the document and print it: it's printed single side

I think it's clear that it would be better that double side settings be coded as booklet mode, outside printer settings.

In the case of double side set and printer not capable of it, the document will be printed single side - I think it is the expected behaviour, and it wouldn't be a bug -, but the setting will be preserved.

Hi Paolo,

Thanks for your remark, idea.
(Never noticed this as a problem. )

I expect you mean the setting that can be done via File > Printer > Properties ?

I set this to new.

Might be that some work on ODF is appropriate too?

Cheers - Cor
