Created attachment 125402 [details] journalctl recorded coindicent with libreoffice crash Running Version: 5.1.3.2 from Fedora 24 Beta Build ID: 5.1.3.2-6.fc24 Every time I close a document that I have changed and saved Libre Office crashes and initiates document recovery. I added the journalctl messages for one of these crashes.
Try this: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Resolving_corruption_in_the_user_profile If it doesn't help, this will guide you to get more detailed crash info: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information

Are there some a11y technologies enabled on your desktop? And if so, which ones? It very much looks like there are, from the backtrace.
It's an HP ZBook 17 G2 with an AMD Firepro graphics card. ALl of the software installed on it came from the Fedora 24 ISO or the Fedora 24 repos. I didn't install anything I would recognize as "ally technologies"
a11y is short for "accessibility" and refers mainly to this tech in connection with LibreOffice: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assistive_technology#Visual_impairments
Thank you for the clarification. I have not enabled any accessibility technology on this system.
2 things you can try: 1) rename your LO directory profile (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#GNU.2FLinux) 2) try to launch LO from terminal/console but before this, type this on console: export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk The goal is to know if the bug is only with gtk3.
I renamed my profile in response to comment 1. This used to happen every time I closed Calc. It does not happen every time any longer. I'll run more tests later today. After an update this morning my system is now at ... That was interesting. I went to the Help About to get the version info and when I pasted into this composition window LO Calc crashed and started recovery. When I tried again and pasted into gedit LO Calc crashed again. According to dnf: libreoffice-calc.x86_64 1:5.1.4.1-1.fc24 I'll run more tests later today including the suggestion to run without gtk3. I am running Wayland but when this first started I reproduced the crash in both X11 and Wayland. Will repeat the tests in both. Thanks
When I first encountered the problem I was updating several spreadsheets to consistent fonts. They had a mix of Arial, Courier New, Free Sans etc. I upgraded each sheet to Liberation Sans or Liberation Mono. These changes hit every cell in every sheet. This crash still occurs in both Wayland and X11. The crash does not occur for a small volume of editing. Libreoffice in X11 has some very long latency when clicking the mouse from cell to cell. I'll followup with the gtk vs gtk3 test in my next post.
[djl@Antares ~]$ export SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk [djl@Antares ~]$ soffice [djl@Antares ~]$ Modified spreadsheet changing fonts on each sheet. Did not crash in this test. Font selection was functional as well but that's a different bug report.
Applied updates to my system this morning. Now at Version: 5.1.4.2 Build ID: 5.1.4.2-1.fc24 Ran four tests of the font change scenario that caused the original crash and LO didn't crash. Previously it crashed every time I closed the app. I was also able to copy and paste the version info out of the About dialog and into gedit. The problem is fixed so far as I can tell. Thanks
Thank you Dan for your feedback, let's put this one to WFM.
