Description DorothyD 2016-06-18 12:08:54 UTC
Hello.

As per the following bug, OS font size settings aren't supposed to affect Libreoffice's menus and dialogs equally until -gtk, -gnome or -kde are installed:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=640463

I've got both libreoffice-gtk and libreoffice-gnome installed on my Mint distro and I can't get the options' fonts size to increase according to my OS appearance settings. This happens in Libreoffice 5, 4 and additionally also in Openoffice 4, on both Ubuntu 16 and Linux Mint 17.

I cannot use font scaling because the menus are already bigger and increasing font scaling results in extremely big menus.

Thank you

Do you have a high-definition screen? Please attach a screenshot, preferably comparing various windows from different software.

I don't have a high res screen so showing several apps on one screenshot is difficult. Have a look at the attachment (notice LO's menus fonts is the same size as other app's windows but options dialog not) and tell me if you need more

Screenshot with Droid Sans Fallback, 16

Thanks for the screenshot.

I tested with 5.2.1.2 / Ubuntu 16.04. Used Unity Tweak Tool to set font to Droid Sans Fallback, 16. Text looks similar sized to menus.

You mentioned it looked too small for you on Ubuntu, too. How did you set the font and font size there? Can you also check with a build downloaded from the LibreOffice site, installed in parallel with your current version as described in [1]?

I set the size normally with the Appearance applet.
Other things not affected by the os font settings are open/save dialogs, autofilter popup menus and the navigator.
You mean to install in paralell with the latest version so as not to lose my current settings? I'm ok with reinstalling. I just tried with version 5.1.5.2 and the problem is still there. I'll try with a 5.2 version later

Version 5.2.2.2 Ubuntu Mate

The problem appears on Version 5.2.2.2 just the same. Notice the options dialog still has smaller font than the menus

Why do you think that the problem is on LibreOffice side instead of Mate side?

Set status to NEEDINFO, please set it back to UNCONFIRMED once requested
informations are provided.

Well, it’s clear to me that *we* aren’t following the MATE font preferences… The screenshot the OP posted last year even shows our dialog using DejaVu Sans instead of Droid Sans, which is what the other windows use…

OK, but does MATE defines its preferences in a way standard enough so that LO can find them?
