Description LKeithJordan 2016-06-24 14:58:02 UTC
OS: Windows 7
LO version: 5.1.3.2

Downloaded and installed LO Version 5.1.3.2 on Win 7 on 2016.0623. Found that the LO Calc input line reflected an unprintable character (black rectangle) in place of the number 1 wherever it occurred in the spreadsheet cell.

Rebooted and tried again. Same result.

Uninstalled LO Version 5.1.3.2 and reinstalled LO Version 5.1.2. Problem did not appear.

Downloaded and installed LO Version 5.1.4.2 on Linux Mint 17.3 on 2016.0624. Tested LO Calc for this problem. Problem did not appear.

Problem appear specific to Windows LO Version 5.1.3.

Do you have this enabled in Win: Tools - Options - LibreOffice - View - Use OpenGL for all rendering?

Ok. Does the problem go away, if you disable the option and restart LibreOffice?
If it goes away, it would be nice if you pasted the contents of C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\cache\opengl_device.log to a comment.

Buovjaga, I have no explanation for my findings this morning. Frankly, this bothers me since a similar problem was reported by someone else on asklibreoffice.org before I posted.

Briefly, the problem is gone. Let's review my actions from start to now.

June 23
I downloaded and installed LO 5.1.3.2. I opened an Excel workbook in LO Calc and saved it to ods format. While making certain changes (such as in formulas using wildcards) for LO Calc compatibility, I found a nonprintable character had replaced each occurrence of the number 1 in the input line.

I rebooted my computer but this had no effect. I researched asklibreoffice.org and found someone had posted a similar problem on June 22. I decided to post this problem to Bugzilla. I also completely uninstalled LO 5.1.3.2 and installed LO 5.1.2 (I don't remember whether I rebooted the computer), whereupon the problem no longer appeared.

June 26
I answered the question posted by Buovjaga (post date 2016-06-25 19:38:34 UTC), based on the settings in LO 5.1.2.

June 27
In order to answer the question posted by Buovjaga (post date 2016-06-26 11:07:33 UTC), I reinstalled LO 5.1.3.2 (no computer reboot). The settings remained consistent with my June 26 reply (post date 2016-06-25 20:35:36 UTC). However, the problem no longer appears.

Any conjecture to explain this situation would be appreciated. I don't like problems or outcomes that have no explanation. I can't duplicate or fix what I can't explain.

Unfortunately I can't come up with an explanation, so let's try to be happy the issue is gone :)
