Presently the statusbar page number entry has a left click that opens the floating navigator window and a right click context menu of bookmarks. Instead the left click should open the "Go to Page" dialog (bug 83054) or the sidebar navigator and the context menu should have two submenu entries - Pages and Bookmarks. Pages would have entries like First Page, Previous Page, Next Page, Last Page, etc. and Bookmarks would have the current list of bookmarks. Some discussion of this topic happened in bug 83054 comment 16.
I'm against using right click to run a function. Rather the context menu is used to select what to execute on left click. If there is no option the right click should be disabled.

If there is no option the > right click should be disabled. Working with the existing Status bar. They are not "context" menu but fully functional commands assigned to left or right mouse actions. This suggestion is consistent UI and UX. It would match the Page Style and the Zoom Style buttons.
(In reply to V Stuart Foote from comment #2) > Working with the existing Status bar. I'm aware of and against it. Right click a button or slider should not start the function.
Unification of the statusbar click behaviour was done in bug 82707.
Closing this ticket in favor of bug 113828 (statusbar customization).
