Description Machiel van Veen 2016-07-13 13:03:18 UTC
Steps:

1) Populate the recent documents list with 10+ documents on a cifs share.
2) Open 5+ documents.
3) Libreoffice hangs during typing and when opening any menu.

Version: 5.1.4.2
Build ID: 1:5.1.4-0ubuntu1~trusty1
CPU Threads 1; OS Version Linux 3.13:UI Render: default
Locale: nl-NL (en_US.UTF-8)

The file server hosting the documents has decent performance but can take a second to respond if it is very busy. The performance issues are resolved when either the Recent Documents list is cleared of the menu item is deleted. The difference in overall performance is like night and day.

I do expect the first time load of the listing of recent documents to take a few seconds. Not the impact on overall performance it has now which I think is unintended.

I think the fix to bug 89394 solves this issue. The fix is coming with 5.1.5. Please test with it when it's out (planned sometimes between Aug 1-7), or you can try with 5.1.5.1 RC, available as a pre-release version from the download page.

If there are files with a disconnected network drive in earlier files, while opening a local file increases significantly

Если в предыдущих файлах есть файлы с отключенного сетевого диска, то время открытия локального файла значительно увеличивается

I've been able to test, it seems to have been resolved in the version we are running, 5.1.4.2.

I haven't heard any complaints of our users anymore either so I think the fix has worked. Thanks a lot for the support on this.
Comment 9 Aron Budea 2016-10-12 12:47:22 UTC
This was probably more related to bug 89394.

Machiel, you raised the bug against 5.1.4.2, are you sure it got resolved without any update? It got fixed in 5.1.5, actually.

Bigor, try with 5.1.5.

Yes, I made a mistake pasting the version number, we are running version 5.2.2.2.
