Agreed. But do we need the checkbox at all? Just don't save, right? Otherwise: EASYHACK (NEEDINFO for code pointers, if there are some)
(In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #2) > Agreed. But do we need the checkbox at all? Just don't save, right? О_о, linked images used often. how make link to image in document without this chekbox?!
Created attachment 126300 [details] LibreOffice dialog --Insert image-- placement of "link" check box Actually there is some confusion in what is being requested. The screen clips are of LibreOffice using OS dialogs -- Windows in this case, believe we define the class of the control, but the OS DE places it in the dialog. Also, this is not for Open file (there is no Link on the open dialog, just Read-only). Rather it is for the Insert -> Image dialog. That has a checkbox action for "Links" to link to the original image rather than simply embedding it. Attached is a screen clip of the LibreOffice dialog--where we actually control the layout of the widgets, it adds a preview panel on the right with a "Preview" checkbox to enable it. So, not sure this is even a valid enhancement request as our dialog is well structured--not clear that we actually can control what the OS DE does with the widget.

True, at least we need an elaborated approach first. But for the read-only checkbox I'm pretty sure it's not inserted from the OS. Anyway, removing the EASYHACK flags for now.
Created attachment 126301 [details] Insert File dialog in Draw Only Writer has the "link"-checkbox far at the left side. The insert image dialog in Draw, Impress and Calc has the checkbox near to the "open" button. Therefore I guess, that tweaking the dialog in Writer is possible. I have used LibreOffice with OS dialog of Windows 7, 32 bit.

Created attachment 126306 [details] xubuntu-insert-image-for-all-component LO 5.1.4 in Xubuntu 16.04 with system view of dialogue (for all components), checkboxes "link" and "view thumbnail" located on the left and all button - on the right.
We're replacing our use of the 'ux-advise' component with a keyword: Component -> LibreOffice Add Keyword: needsUXEval [NinjaEdit]
So let's move the checkbox in Writer; removing needsUX.
