Description rueter.jack 2016-07-21 07:16:34 UTC
Could you add Lushootseed (ISO-639-3: lut) so that it can be selected from the drop-down menu, and a spellchecker can be installed.
[lut-US]

@Eike, what do you think ?
Comment 2 Eike Rathke 2017-04-13 10:44:01 UTC
um.. really? Population 10, decreasing? https://www.ethnologue.com/language/lut

Btw, spell-checker can be installed anyway and text be attributed by entering lut-US in the language combobox. As of upcoming release 5.4, language tags provided by spell-checkers are also added to the language list, e.g. as {lut-US}, see also https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleaseNotes/5.4#Improvements_to_proofing_tools_and_language_support

Any compelling reason why to clutter the language list further with that in mind?

I think we can close this bug as RESOLVED NOTABUG as per comment 2

The criticism is taken in comment 2.
I am certain that Ethnologue is intended to be a respectable source, but 10 speakers is well below the number of language users, as might be observed in language revitalization at University of Washington, Tacoma.

At least the lut-US should work, and that is definitely a great thing.

Thanks for your consideration.
