hi every one.
libreoffice writer crashes for me when openning this file.
i use windows xp and i tested with different versions of writer.
with libreoffice 4.3.7.2 and 4.4.6.3, libreoffice crashes due to unexpected error and wants to recover my document.
and with version 5.0.5.2 i recieve this error.

LibreOffice 5.0 - Fatal Error
Access violation - no RTTI data!
OK

could you please test it with the newer versions of libreoffice and solve this problem?

thanks for your help, i pray for you and request devine mercy for you.

On pc Debian x86-64 with LO Debian package 5.1.5, I could reproduce this.
BTW, it took some time to test (1 minutes to get 95% of loading on a i5)
Comment 2 Julien Nabet 2016-07-26 12:17:59 UTC
I noticed that if I renamed the file (eg: test.docx), I don't have a crash and it opens.
Comment 3 Julien Nabet 2016-07-26 13:47:28 UTC
I can't succeed in retrieving a bt, even when attach gdb to LO process, I don't reproduce the crash.
As if the fact that as soon as gdb is used, LO doesn't crash...

My experience:
-opening document takes 10 minutes or so with LibreOffice 5.1.4.2 in Windows 7,
-opening document is also very slow, and hangs when almost done with LibreOffice 5.2.0.3 in Ubuntu Linux 15.10 (for me renaming the file doesn't help).

Adding perf keyword for performance.

hello again.
i tested also this document with writer 5.1.6.1 and 5.2.5.1 under windows xp.
i am very glad that i can say i could open it properly without any crash and navigate between different lines and pages of it.
could you please test it with different versions of writer and also windows?

i dont know how to appreciate you.
i pray for you sincerely and request divine extreme mercy and blessings for you.

As to my problem (.odt file containing a big table with text and graphics) I found a workaround: splitting up the big table into a couple of smaller ones within the same file; it opens very fast now, saving takes a bit longer, but no crashes hence.

Tested with 5.3.0.3 and 5.4 daily build (details are below) / Windows 7.

The file still takes a very long time to open, in fact I didn't wait for them to finish, and after waiting a few mins terminated Writer. Let's say it's not fixed, so I'm reopening the report.

in this weak, i downloaded libreoffice 4.3.4.1 and libreoffice crashed for me when openning the file.
i think i should download 4.3.0 and see if this version can open my book or libreoffice crashes again like newer versions.
i also, could open my book in libreoffice 5.1.6, 5.2.5, 5.2.6, 5.2.7, 5.3.3 until 5.3.5 without any crash!
not sure about newer versions of writer because version 6 does not support xp
and i am not comfortable with newer versions and dont use them.

On Win7 with LO 6.0.2, the document takes a long time to open, I'm not even sure it can since after 4 minutes, it was still loading so I killed LO process.

In comparison, Word 2013 can open it in less than 10secs on the same machine.

Caolán/Khaled: any idea what could be the cause? Rendering, font, other? Or is it related to docx import filter?

No idea, but after the document loads scrolling through it seems to be OK, so looks like some issue with loading the document.

Thank you for your feedback.
Just for curiosity, how much time you had to wait to open the doc?

hi.
my new observations as follows:
i installed libreoffice 4.3.0.4 and it loaded only 22 pages, (even the page numbers are different).
because when i installed version 5.1.6.2, libreoffice opened this book for me and the last sentences in 4.3.0, was in page 22, but in 5.1.6, was in page 25!
then, libreoffice opened this book for me after 30 minutes in any version of libreoffice that can open this file, (i tested with many versions including 5.1.6 and later versions).

this problem (openning book after 30 minutes) is true also for me in bug

I can open the document fine (no crashes) using

Version: 6.0.7.3
Build ID: 1:6.0.7-0ubuntu0.18.04.2
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 4.15; UI render: default; VCL: x11;
Locale: en-CA (en_CA.UTF-8); Calc: group

It took 2 minutes 45 seconds to open, though.

hi every one.
fortunately, i should say that i could open this book in several versions of libreoffice which i tested: 5.1.6, 5.2.6, 5.2.7, 5.3.3, 5.3.4, 5.3.5 and i also should test with 5.3.7 too.
i dont think any regression when openning this book, however, i use windows xp and i even cant download newer versions for testing.
its a very large book and if i remember correctly, even 30 minutes i needed for openning it. but it not cause a crash at least since 5.1.6 which i remember now.
but may i ask that which change or new patch helped me to open this book without crash?
and whome, should i appreciate for resolving my issues?
thanks again for your great program,
i dont forget sincere praying for you and requesting special and infinite mercy and blessings of God for you!

Thanks for retesting with those versions.
