Similar to Bug ID 66265 I'm having a similar issue with trying to install 5.2.0.4. I've had LibreOffice installed for several years, and have been updating it occasionally. Today I noticed it was no longer there! I expect my recent Windows 10 debacle (ridiculous forced installation followed by manual downgrade back to Windows 7)has something to do with it. So, I downloaded the latest version and tried to install it. It hangs up looking for an older version (4.3.3Win_x86.msi) that I no longer have installed. Its also too old to download and I haven't found it online (yet). I end up with "ERROR 1714: The older version of LibreOffice 5.2.0.4 cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group." I realize this looks like an old bug, but it still has teeth. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Cheers- Joe
The old versions are here: https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/
Alternatively, if using the old release doesn't work, someone wrote a guide here that might help solving this issue (I haven't tried it): http://ooo-forums.apache.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=78765 And another couple of links on the topic: https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/questions/scope:all/sort:activity-desc/tags:error-1714/page:1/ If anything worked, please share the information for the benefit of future generations, and set status to RESOLVED/WORKFORME. Should you need further assistance, set status back to UNCONFIRMED with details.
OK, I tried path #1, which was to download the old version. Unfortunately, the installer for 4.3.3.2 ( the one it asks for) still crashes with the following error: "...\LibreOffice 4.3.3.2_win_x86.msi is not a valid installation package for the product LibreOffice 4.3.3.2. Try to find the installation package LibreOffice 4.3.3_Win_X86.msi in a folder from which you can install LibreOffice 4.3.3.2." Hmmmmmm. I didn't see an installer for 4.3.3, only 4.3.3.1 and so on. That yields the same error. Ditto 4.0.1, 4.1.2, etc. I did find an installer for 4.3.3 on another site, but its called libreoffice-4-3-3-multi-win.msi, and it didn't work either. And then I did something stupid: I tried renaming the libreoffice-4-3-3-multi-win.msi file to LibreOffice 4.3.3_Win_X86.msi. AND IT WORKED. I have no idea how, and I have no idea if I'll get the same error at upgrade time, but it looks like I'm good for now! Thanks to all who pitched in. Cheers- Joe
Thanks for the update, it's good to know what exactly worked in this case. Yes, I forgot to mention that the server has the files with all four version numbers (the last is for the release candidates, of which the final one is released), but when they're released, they don't have that last number in the file name. The files are identical, though, so for example LibreOffice_5.2.0_Win_x86.msi and LibreOffice_5.2.0.4_Win_x86.msi are the exact same.
