Description ntarkalanov@mail.com 2016-08-06 17:54:44 UTC
Hi!

Dell Precision, T7400.
Ubuntu 14.04, 64 bit.
LibreOffice 5.1.4.2.
I use the Calc to control my personal finances.
There are 7-8 pages in the document.
Two occurrences: When I open the document, the content of entire pages is erased.
I am sure I saved the document before closing.
When I open the document, one or another page is blank.
(Pressing Ctrl+Home does not help: already at the top-left of the page.)
I am sure I did not Ctrl-A+delete while on the page.
I am using computers since 1992, MS Office, Word Perfec Office, OpenOffice, LiberOffice, and never seen such things.
Are there other users complaining of the same thing?

Regards,

Nick

Here is the update.
I formated the HD and reinstalled Ubuntu.
Now I am running version 14. I do not want to mess up with 16.

I have 2 personal computers with Ubuntu, and within 1 week I had to reinstall the Ubuntu on both of them.
One of them, I could not connect my PC to a TV set, which is a very ordinary thing in the last 15 years, on any OS. I could not. I followed different ideas executed sudo commands, installed who knows what, nothing helped.
At one point, I could not boot with my original screen. PC would boot, but will show nothing on either screen.

The other computer stopped booting for no obvious reasons. I would try to boot in safe mode, it would not. The last option, I installed the OS on a different HD.
Ever since I reinstalled the Ubuntu, the problem with disappearing pages never manifested again.

I am sorry, but I feel Ubuntu does not deserve the respect people give it for stability and reliability.

Regards,

Nick
