Description Olivier 2016-08-18 16:33:07 UTC
When choosing timed presentation (not sure of the name in english: Présentation chronométrée in french), the time is reset each time you change the slide.

Expected: Let the chronometer run until I stop it so that I can now my overall presentation time.

I changed the summary and made this an enhancement. Your expectation is not correct, but a way to show the total time would be really nice.
I found a way to view the individual timings: http://superuser.com/questions/208119/how-do-i-view-the-total-time-of-ooo-impress-rehearse-timings

Open Slide transition panel in the Sidebar. Now you will see the stored timing under Advance slide - automatically after x,xx sec.

Note: you store the time when rehearsing by clicking on the timer with your mouse. If you just hit spacebar to advance, it will not store the time!

Let's ask design team about the best way to display total times.

Does it really work as expected? Not for me, at least (5.2.0.3, Linux).

Regarding the visualization, how about an entry in the status bar with 'selected slide / total time' like '0:00:32/0:32:17'.

I want this feature too.

版本:6.0.3.2
組建 ID:1:6.0.3~rc2-0ubuntu0.16.04.1~lo2
CPU 執行緒:4; OS:Linux 4.11; UI 算繪:預設; VCL: kde4;
語言地區:zh-TW (zh_TW.UTF-8); Calc: group

Also related to #57586. The behavior of rehearse timing is non-sense. Besides this issue about total timings, also individual timing shouldn't start after all the animations are shown.

Some ideas:

1. Show a message box after the rehearsal ended
2. Add a field to the toolbar (shown only at slide sorter mode), perhaps as combobox with info for each slide
3. Show the total rehearsal time in big read letters on the last "Click to exit" slide
4. Show the time in a dedicated field on the status bar considering the importance and frequently use of it

My preference is #3- if there are no further/better ideas.

The point is to have total elapsed time shown when rehearsing. It's important for speakers to know how much total time spent when the presentation progresses to a certain point.

We agreed in the design meeting on Franklin's comment 5. The use case is to know how much time is left for the last two slides, for example. So the total time should be added just after the slide time like 0:10:11 / 12:34:10. This is likely an easy hack.

The issue with restating timers after animation should be discussed in a separate ticket.

I think a nice solution would be making the feature that is shown by the attached screenshot the default when selecting 'Slide Show --> Rehearse Timings'. How about that?
