Description p10 2016-08-23 13:22:24 UTC
To reproduce the bug :
Create a custom character style.
In a list style, choose your custom character style for numbering.
Apply this style somewhere in your document.
Now if you choose in the style side panel, «used style» in the list box, then you will not see your characters style, even if it is used (inside your list style).

I realize this message is quite incomprehensible, and my so bad english will not help. Do not hesitate to ask me some details.

Thanks.

Do you mean that when text with the list style has the focus, and you choose to see character styles in the side bar, that then your custom character style is not highlighted, i.e. you do not see that it is used?

(In any case that is what I see that happens.)

Ciao - Cor

custom character style in a numbering style
Comment 4 p10 2016-10-05 09:36:36 UTC
Sorry for the big delay.
Here is a file with a characters style called "MyCustomStyle".
"MyCustomStyle" is used for formating characters in the numbering style called "Numbering 1".
The text I wrote is formatted with "Numbering 1". So MyCustomStyle is in used in this document.
So I would expect LO to show me "MyCustomStyle" when I select "applied styles" in the drop-down list of the style panel. But I can't see it...

Thank you for the test file, I understand better what you mean.
Reproducible with LibreOffice 5.2.3.0+ and the master under Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64.

From my point of view, the main issue is that deleting this used style does not trigger any warning. The Style and Formatting panel seems to not know that this character style is used somewhere in the document.

@Jean-Baptiste: any idea for a proper summary of this issue :) ?

I updated the summary to: Character styles used in a numbering style are not listed in "used styles" tab of Styles And Formatting and can be deleted without warning.

thanks Jean-Baptiste. I think we should set this as enhancement.

For me, this isn't an enhancement but a bug.
