a small table, a bigger can be accessed by the link in the comment

Calculations oare done using only one CPU core, what impacts on the performance very badly in case of processing really large tables (more than 1 million lines, the example table is attached).
Comment 1 Mikhail Novosyolov 2016-08-26 20:58:19 UTC
The example 1 million lines table can be downloaded here: https://yadi.sk/d/kjulDwVEuX6Rk (such a big file cannot be attached here)
You can try sorting the whole table for example.

LibreOffice it's not a multi thread software.

Saving the sample as csv to avoid any format issue, to test.

It seems to sort quick, so looks as something in relation with the format or some file option, is the source of the issue.

In any case there is an issue.

Edited the title.
Comment 4 Mikhail Novosyolov 2016-08-28 21:13:50 UTC
Do you mean that it is sorted faster in csv?
Comment 5 m_a_riosv 2016-08-28 21:34:46 UTC
Yes, save the file as CSV, only the first sheet is saved, close and reopen the csv file. it is quick on sorting.

Remains in LO 5.4

attachment 127042 [details] seems to sort pretty quickly and the bigger file is no longer available.

No sorting time and hardware details are mentioned. Thus putting to needinfo.
