all other programs, paint, windows viewer, slide shows don't have the problem

Reproducible: Always

Actual Results:
add slide, import image as background or just add image.
Save file
get allocation error

Can also sometimes happen when importing particular jpg files on the import itself

Impress is at default settings

jpg picture which causes allocation error

Happens with ~5% of images downloaded from Android Samsung phone and iphone.

If I load a clean copy of program, it seems to work with the one slide.
It may be size of impress file loaded that creates or helps to create the problem.

File I am creating has now 73,073 MB in it. Adding slides to it is becoming next to impossible.

I'm no expert here, just doesn't look helpful. Memory corruption can be checked with https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/How_to_debug#Searching_for_a_memory_corruption_on_Windows_using_DrMemory.
Did you search for duplicates before? Maybe a dupe of Bug 92284.
Comment 11 kirk robertson 2016-09-29 16:58:44 UTC
I did search for duplicates before, found nothing, but 92284 sounds awfully similar. Same problem with 4GB of ram as with 16GB, so don't think win10 problem. Notice the impress.exe has Python 3.3 in files. I normally run 3.5 but I know there are operational differences between the two.

I would use another program but they all have funny limits (e.g. Microsoft sway limits 300 images), while your phone can store 1000's.

Picture viewer can sequence between pictures, but then you have to name files do they come out in the order you want them.

just an irritant!
I may try the development release.

I downloaded the 64 bit version of release 5.2.2. The problem dis-appeared, so from my view point the problem is fixed

That's good to hear, thanks for the update.
Since the commit fixing the issue is unknown, adjusting status to WORKSFORME.
