Not reproducible for me with LibreOffice 5.2.3.0+ built at home under Ubuntu 16.04 x86-64.
ctrl+F8 works as expected.

Best regards. JBF

Hello kompilainenn, *,
which desktop environment are you using? Is the key combination <Ctrl>+<F8> used there for an action? On my system (Debian Testing AMD64 w/ XFCE 4) I would switch to workspace 8 with this key combination (so the shown shortcut for "View - Highlighting Values" does not work as well. But you can either change it via "Tools - Customize..." and then on the "Keyboard" tab or change it in your DE/DM settings, if it is used there).
HTH
Thomas.

Hi, Thomas. I use Xubuntu 16.04 with XFCE 4.xx. I have only 4 workplaces.

"Sigh" ... I have not written that you also use 8 workspaces, but that it could be that XFCE 4 uses this key combination for something ...;) The example with this 8 workspaces was just to show, that I could not use it as well as I have assigned this key combination to another action ... ;)

See https://wiki.xfce.org/faq#keyboard for further information and use the "xfconf-query..." command there (maybe with an additional "|grep F8") to see, if it is used otherwise ... ;) BTW: this is also mentioned in the readme which comes with your installation of LO (or online at https://www.libreoffice.org/welcome/readme.html) below the header "Shortcut Keys" ... ;)
Have a nice day
Thomas.

@kompilainenn
On Xfce Desktop go to Whisker Menu > Settings > Setting Editor
In left panel select xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts
In right panel select entry which begins <Control>F8
At bottom click "Reset".
On pop-up click "Reset".
This will remove the Xfce use of Ctrl+F8.
LO will be able to use Ctrl+F8 immediately.
