Description Joachim Otahal 2016-10-09 23:28:50 UTC
Description:
The task is simple.
Text box with one letter over a blue rectangle.
It needs to be repositioned.
That is not possible. See attached document.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make document, 25cmx40xm.
2. Make rectangle, blue, 0x003b80 to be exact.
3. Make textbox, enter "P", change font size 528
4. Try to move the P up.

Actual Results:
Unmovable text box

Expected Results:
Having the frame fo the text box available to move and reposition it.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: Yes

Additional Info:
All the help I found via google was "how to add an text box" but not how to move it or change it's size once it is created.

Clarification: The text box frame cannot be selected, and therefore not be changed or moved.

Bodhi Linux

I can move it without a problem.

You are using "5.3.0.0.alpha0+" under a different OS.
Did you try with the attached document or a new document?
I am trying http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86@42/, http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86@42/2016-10-10_06.29.01/libo-master~2016-10-10_06.29.01_LibreOfficeDev_5.3.0.0.alpha0_Win_x86.msi to be exact.
But it is still the same, I cannot select the "P" text box of my attached document. It only activates the cursor so I can type or marks the "P", but the box around the "P" is neither visible or selectable. And when I think it should be the text box, it moves the whole blue rectangle along with the text box.
It is like the blue rectangle is the text box instead of the text box being it's own object which I created AFTER putting the blue rectangle there.

When creating a new document, making the rectangle, create the text box and move it before entering any text, then it behaves as expected and stays selectable afterwards.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated 2 days ago, if I create just a textbox without typing anything, I can't even select the textbox.
If I put text in it, I can move the textbox.

Now if I put the textbox inside a rectangle, I can't even select the textbox too.

In brief, I can reproduce this.

When I create a rectangle and text box as you describe, I can simply select the text box by TABbing
See attachment.
Your P in blue is just text in the rectangle
