Description irene-myller 2016-11-09 16:03:01 UTC
Description:
Libre office writer crashes when I try to export my master's thesis (156 pages + graphics) as a pdf.
Restoring user profile does not help.
It is possible to export the same content when copying all into a new document, but then something with the layout is wrong - suddenly, the document has only 155 pages

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open the respective document
2. click on either file - export as pdf, or on pdf-export-button
3. click on save
4.

Actual Results:
writer crashes
when I open it again, it is possible to restore the documents which where open, and I can restart with 2.

Expected Results:
a nicely exported pdf on my desktop (or somewhere else, the location does not change the problem)

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: yes

If you indeed used 4.2.8.2 as specified in the version field, please try with a recent release (5.2.3 preferably).

Also, if it's still occurring in a current version, please attach a sample document.

You can find recent LO version for different Ubuntu versions on LO ppa (see https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa)

If you can't attach your file, you can try to retrieve a backtrace (see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/BugReport/Debug_Information#GNU.2FLinux:_How_to_get_a_backtrace)

Dear Q&A team,
sorry for not replying for such a long time - I am not a geek familiar with stuff like bugzilla. - What exactly was the information I was supposed to give?
I think using a new version helped, but I think I needed to install it manually with the help of a geek friend...
Since I don't have the problem any more.
Thank you for your help!
Eenee

Thank you Irene for your feedback.
Since it works with a recent LO version, let's put this one to WFM.
