impress is very slow in view / outline mode. It takes several seconds when i write text or delete it. Window is freezed during this delay.
Does this happen with a blank file or some specific file? Please also try with version 5.2. Set to NEEDINFO. Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.
Created attachment 129261 [details] test case I don't know exactly what is the problem with the attached file . It is very slow in outline mode. Maybe the problem comes from the midnightblue slide master. With blank file it works fine.

I just install fedora 25 to have libreoffice 5.2. Same issue. I test the test case on ubuntu : same issue. In outline mode only, when i write texts without stopping editing text, text doesn't appear on screen. When i stop editing, text appears about 5 seconds or more after i stop writing! (depending on how many characters i wrote without stopping typing text).
To be sure, I tested also by launching with SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk3 libreoffice and still no problem.

To do so: 1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/ 2. Test your bug 3. Leave a comment with your results. 4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo'; 4b. I experience this laggy performance in most recent Impress, as well. As observed here: https://ask.libreoffice.org/en/question/261988/libreoffice-calc-70-very-slow/ I can confirm that the delay is related to Open Document formats only. Here are the repro steps for a simple presentation without heavy content (no images, just headlines): 1. Create a new Impress presentation 2. Add slides 3. Store as *.odp 4. Navigate through slides (e.g. via Page-Keys) -> delay between slides changes around 2-3 seconds 5. Save the presentation as *.pptx 6. Navigate through slides -> no noticeable delay The application seems to be a bit more responsive when changing through slides in the "Notes" view, but lacks massively in "Normal" and Presentation Mode (F5). Files are local (SSD), no network involved running LibreOffice: Version: 7.1.1.2 / LibreOffice Community Build ID: 10(Build:2) CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.10; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3 Locale: de-DE (de_DE.UTF8); UI: de-DE 7.1.1-1 Calc: threaded Regards, sbub
