Description john 2017-01-11 03:07:46 UTC
The new Bookmark dialog in LO 5.2.3 is very nice but with one small flaw. When inserting a new bookmark, the dialog opens with "Bookmark 1" auto-filled as the default bookmark name. The user must manually select and delete this text in order to replace it with their own label.

This problem would be avoided if the default text "Bookmark 1" were selected when the dialog opens, allowing the user to simply over-type the default text.

This is a valid feature request. Set to NEW.
Comment 2 ggallozz 2017-04-02 08:45:28 UTC
I support this request, and furthermore I would stress that default bookmark naming greatly improves our work, if it offers selected text, if any, instead of generic "Bookmark 1" name.

I have the same kind of wish. I always have to delete Bookmark 1.
Maybe it can be set as an option (i.e., current behavior or empty field)

Maybe this bug could be a candidate for easyHack?

I would also propose/highlight the feature mentioned in Comment 2

1. select text in document
2. Insert Bookmark
3. Have the selected text automatically copied to Bookmark "name" field

Strongly support this enhancement. It saves the user having to perform a few clicks and a drag to select the existing text.
