When opening old Writer documents, with tables in it including some calculations, Writer gives on the formula (Dutch): =som(<E2:E16>) the error **Foutieve expressie**(=Expression Error). The expression should now apparently be in English: =sum(<E2:E16>), which is accepted. I have not read about an intended change of localized function names to English in Writer.
@Cor, can you take a look at this one and comment?
Hi Roy, (In reply to Roy D from comment #0) > When opening old Writer documents, with tables in it including some > calculations, Writer gives on the formula (Dutch): =som(<E2:E16>) the error > **Foutieve expressie**(=Expression Error). Those have never been localized, until now. Have seen some discussion on the subject, don't find an issue right now.. It was because sometimes (or in the past) Som<...> was interpreted as Sum, being a fall back / default function. Set as enhancement.
Created attachment 135073 [details] writer_table_localized_formula
attached writer document (created with lo 4.4.7.2) has a working "localized" sum formula: =summe <A1:A3> with lo 5.1.6 it gives an error.

This is not a bug. Since resolving bug 61228, this now works as intended, not accepting any random string to be ignored (thus sometimes making an impression it "works"). Comment 5 is absolutely correct. And there was never a localization of formulas/function names in Writer. (In reply to Oliver Brinzing from comment #6) > that's true, but i found 2 entries in the german > help where "=Summe" is used instead of "=sum". That would be a documentation bug. References to those would be needed to solve.
