The picture shows the different boxes : 5.2 and 5.3 with the missing line

When you are working on a Base form and want to add a button: you cannot change the color of the background because the line is missing, even if there is a new line to add a picture (but it is not the same). We only can have a add (and ugly) grey button.

On pc Debian x86-64 with master sources updated yesterday or with LO Debian package 5.2.4, I don't reproduce this.

For the test, could you rename your LO directory profile?(see https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/UserProfile#Windows)

It appears in the 5.3 pre-release as you can see on the picture...

Yes I saw it. I just put it for the record. You'll notice that I haven't put this bugtracker to RESOLVED and since I got no question, I haven't put it either to NEEDINFO.
Comment 6 Robert Großkopf 2017-01-30 14:00:24 UTC
I could confirm the background couldn't be changed any more in a button. There has been a textbox and a button for this in all versions before LO 5.3.0 between "Word break" and "Action". Seems this property has gone on textfields, formatted fields - I couldn't find it any more at any control, not only buttons.

By the way: Adding a picture to a button isn't a new feature. Have used this also in LO 3.x

Confirmed for every form-control with
Version: 5.3.0.2
Build-ID: 5ad7b2889021c491af62f7930a4b1cb631392f16
CPU-Threads: 4; BS-Version: Linux 4.1; UI-Render: Standard; VCL: kde4; Layout-Engine: neu;
Gebietsschema: de-DE (de_DE.UTF-8); Calc: group

Works in LO 5.2.4.2

Tested with OpenSUSE 64bit rpm Linux
Comment 7 Robert Großkopf 2017-01-30 14:01:47 UTC
Changed the title to "all controls" - eems the background-color has gone for every control ...
Comment 8 Xisco Faulí 2017-01-30 15:26:24 UTC
I can't reproduce it in

Version: 5.4.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: fc53cce64400430cdc21f79c959d75fb9a26d13d
CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Linux 4.8; UI Render: default; VCL: gtk3;
Locale: ca-ES (ca_ES.UTF-8); Calc: group

Just to be sure, could you please indicate the steps you follow to reproduce it ?

You can't reproduce is with 5.4.0.0.alpha, which is packed after bug 105467 has been fixed. Have tested this with 5.4.0.0 alpha 2017-01-30. The fix with the empty property seems to bring back background-color. But choose anything in the background-color: Doesn't change the color in any way.

Don't know if there is a connection between the two bugs ...

Let's increase the importance since :
- it's a regression
- it impacts every platform
- it's not a corner case

Adding a field to a form

LibreOffice Base using versions 5.3.0.3 or 5.2.5.1

Based on some of the comments I may not have explained the problem clear enough.
There was some mention of adding buttons to a form but that is not what I am referring to. As mentioned in my original comment, it has to do with adding a FIELD to an existing form.

The field is added using the Form Design Toolbar icon number 6. Using this icon places the field on the form with a white background and no border. In Base 5.3.0.3 using the Control Properties Text Box, the options to change the Background color and Border color were missing. Not so in version 5.2.5.1
The reason for changing the background color is to match the existing fields.

Need additional clarification please let me know.

Thanks again, Ron (rongraham1213@rogers.com)

Adding a field to a form

As you can see the new field has a white background and no border. In Base 5.3.0.3 the options to change the background and border color are missing from the Properties Control. Ron 2/17/17

Same problem. When designing forms in libreoffice base, the option to change background color of any control from Properties:<control> menu, is missing.

OS: Archlinux
Version: LibreOffice 5.3.0.3 30m0(Build:3)
Comment 19 Keith 2017-03-03 14:13:17 UTC
I had the same problem with missing background-color properties for all form elements, regardless of which module is used (Writer, Base, etc).

I was able to resolve this by removing LO 5.3.0.3, deleting ALL LO directories (I updated several times and so had LO directories for 4 and 5 - remove them all) from Program files and Program Files (x86).

I then removed all instances of the phrase "libreoffice" from the registry (I use Windows 10).

I then downloaded LO 5.3.1.1 and installed it.

It worked for me.....don't know if all that was necessary or not....perhaps just uninstalling and installing 5.3.1.1 would have worked....

Hope this helps someone!

Keith

Let's close this one then.

If someone reproduces the initial pb indicated in title with 5.3.1, please don't hesitate to reopen this tracker.

Ron: I'm not sure you're talking about the same since you indicated in comment 14:
"...

..."
as if you had already commented this tracker whereas it's your first comment.
Comment 21 Robert Großkopf 2017-03-03 15:26:59 UTC
Ok, the boxes for changing the color of background and border have come back with LO 5.3.1.1. But I don't understand why it is showing (for a white background of the control) a black background on the Listbox and the text "Light Magenta".

You could choose another color and it will show all right, but the default seem to be a little buggy.
Comment 22 Keith 2017-03-03 18:46:32 UTC
I agree with Robert; the color picker is definitely buggy.
+Attempting to change the color to "stock" color, like "Skyblue 3", does NOT work.
+Trying to use the custom color picker works, BUT, it does not reflect the color change on the palette....until you move the black dot.

But, I assumed that those are different issues and probably deserved it's own bug ticket.

Where do I find 5.3.11..thanks Ron
Comment 25 Robert Großkopf 2017-03-03 20:15:10 UTC
@Keith: This one couldn't be set to "Fixed", because there is nobody who has written a patch. Seems the bug has been gone while changing something other. So I have set it to "Worksforme", because the option is offered.

Bugs of the listbox, which appears now, should be reported as new bugs.

@Ron: You could find 5.3.1.1 at http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases
There are 4 different versions at this moment - don't know why: LO 5.2.6.1, LO 5.2.6.2, LO 5.3.0.3 and LO 5.3.1.1. So you have to scroll down ...

Ok Robert...thanks for that. I downloaded 5.3.1.1 x86 to my Win 7 PC. Colour options are back as you stated. For now I will continue to use 5.2.5.1 om my Win 10 machine until a new update is released. Cheers from Ontario, Canada
