Description firebynightglass 2017-02-05 18:09:51 UTC
Description:
NOT related to Spreadsheet. And, I have just updated my the software today.
When using a TABLE in regular Libreoffice, I sometimes want to view the Formula again, and not the result. I have tried following the recommended path to view this {Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Calc>View}, but my program DOES NOT have "LibreOffice Calc" in the list. Yes, I looked several times.
How can I view the formula instead of the results at times that I need to?

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click Tools
2.Click Options
3.Look for LibreOffice Calc
4.It isn't there

Actual Results:
Nothing special.

Expected Results:
Nothing.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: I should be able to view Calc under the Tools>Options.
Again, this is not a Spreadsheet, but just a table. I want to be able to view the formula, even after it has performed the calculation.

Additional Info:
Not a profile problem.

Position into the Writer Table cell holding a formula, enter <F2> to restore the formula bar for Tables. Also, note that syntax for specifying table cells requires brackets, e.g. <A1>

You have not understood my problem. I know how to click on the F2 to completely change a formula. I want to be able to view the *current* formula, not the results of the calculation. Even hovering over the table cell, the pop up tag is "Adjust Table Row".

Sorry, can not confirm.

On Windows 10 Pro 64-bit en-US with
Version: 5.3.0.3 (x64)
Build ID: 7074905676c47b82bbcfbea1aeefc84afe1c50e1
CPU Threads: 8; OS Version: Windows 6.19; UI Render: default; Layout Engine: new;
Locale: en-US (en_US); Calc: group

And likewise, can not confirm with
Version: 4.4.4.3
Build ID: 2c39ebcf046445232b798108aa8a7e7d89552ea8
Locale: en_US

With a Table created in Writer and several cells filled, a formula entered into a cell with correct syntax performs calculation.

Pointing mouse cursor to result in that cell shows "Tooltip" with the formula being evaluated.

Positioning edit cursor into the cell makes an <F2> opening of formula bar for that cell.

No method to display the formula "un-evaluated" in a table cell--all that is possible is the tooltip view of the formula or reopening the formula bar with <F2>.
Comment 5 firebynightglass 2017-02-05 19:27:05 UTC
Upon reopening the formula bar on a cell that has been calculated, the formula bar is BLANK. It does not show the formula that was used.
Again, there no "Tool-tip" view of the formula in the cell. All that shows when hovering on the calculated cell is "Adjust Table Row".

Formula bar is not blank and the tooltip shows fine here.

I wonder what is the issue. Maybe you could try version 5.3. If it does not work out of the box, try Help - Restart in safe mode and then Continue in safe mode without doing anything else.

Set to NEEDINFO.
Change back to UNCONFIRMED, if the problem persists in 5.3. Change to RESOLVED WORKSFORME, if the problem went away.

My tests on:
