Description Gerrit 2017-02-08 15:10:08 UTC
When opening a Calc-file. which was made in the previous version 5.03, the formulas are displayed in the cells, not the results of the formulas.

When making a netw file in the current version of Calc, I get the same result when saving, closing and opening the file at a later moment.

The View-menu always shows a tickmark before Display Formulas. If removed at the next start we have the same situation.

This seems illogical, the user wants to see the results of the formulas, not the formulas.

Also (in the Dutch version of the software) we see:

Formule weergeven Ctrl

So the shortcut key is not displayed in the menu.

Hi Gerrit, m.a.riosv,

With:
A1, “1”.
A2, “2”.
A3: “= A1+A2”

and also with your Test file, I reproduce.
LO 5.3.0.3 Build ID: 7074905676c47b82bbcfbea1aeefc84afe1c50e1
Threads CPU : 2; Version de l'OS :Windows 6.1; UI Render : par défaut; Moteur de mise en page : nouveau; Locale : fr-FR (fr_FR); Calc: CL
doesn’t display result by default and keeps formula displaying.

Untick Show Formula in View menu changes this behaviour only during the cession.
To get the right behavior, ie result displaying, open:
Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Advanced
Open Expert Configuration

Open org.openoffice.Office.Calc
Content
Display
And into:

Preference Name Property Type Value
Display Formula boolean true

Change Value to false.

If Show Formula was unticked, you will find the usual behaviour after restart.
Do you confirm it ?

Bonjour Jacques! / m.a.riosv

Je vous remercie beaucoup!
Je m'excuse parce que je ne parle pas Francais tres bien...
Alors... En Anglais:

I can confirm that your solution works.

Still open: no shortcutkey mentioned in the View-menu after 'Show formula'.
Only mentioned: 'Ctrl'. Maybe something for the next update.

As far as I am concerned the case is closed.

Thank you!

Gerrit

Thanks Gerrit,

Which precise Windows OS are you using? This would be useful to mention it.
Usage here is:
one issue per report.
So a separate report is needful for the shortcut.

On French lists, no user confirmed this issue, under Windows 7 or Windows 10.
But for the shortcut Key:
On Linux, shortcut "Ctrl+`",available by "Ctrl+AltGr+7" is visible and works.
On all Windows Os, only "Ctrl" is visible, and shortcut isn't available into
Tools > Custumize... > Keyboard at Category Fonctions: View
and Function: Show Formula.
Ctrl+Alt+7 is not set as Shortcut Key, nor "Show Formula".

Do you write the new report?

Jacques

Jacques,

Thanks for your explanation about procedures here. I am new to it.

If you think it is useful, I will file a new report. Personally I think either the omission of a shortcutkey or the accidental placing of Ctrl in the menu after Show formulas is a very minor issue.

I use Windows 10 Home, version 1607, build 14393.693

Let me know what you prefer...

Sincerely,

Gerrit
