Description: I was working on a five sheet spreadsheet, exporting financial data from gnucash into html reports. I then opened the reports in calc and copy and pasted them into a single spreadsheet for formatting, and some additional comparisons and analysis, not possible in gnucash. The source of the data is likely irrelevant. As I as formatting the data, I had exported the completed result as PDF, and I was fixing some borders, and backgrounds to make it pretty. A few of the changes to borders seemed to be ineffective in applyinh (making thicker lines), so I skipped that and moved to a new sheet. On the new sheet I added some conditional formatting. Everything looked perfect, and I exported to pdf again, overwriting my previous export. Then I got only one sheet. I went back to the other sheets to see why they did not export and they had nothing in them. I clicked undo many times to see if I had accidentally done something, but all of my formatting changes (borders and backgrounds) were undone, while none of the data or formulas came back. The file was 35 kB instead of 80 kB. I found a backup of the file from my nightly backup and restored it. I am about to redo the work. Lost data in a spreadsheet is a very serious bug, so I think it essential to report this. I found some other similar complaints in some forums, but cannot find a similar bug report. This was all native Linux, and Libreoffice files. No interaction with proprietary file formats. Steps to Reproduce: No action seemed to relate to the data loss. 1. 2. 3. Actual Results: Several sheets of the spreadsheet lost all data, and formulas, but not formatting. Expected Results: All data remains unchanged. Reproducible: Didn't try User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: This is a charity financial report which will be posted publicly when it is completed, so I will attach the file before and after corruption. Note that the problem occurred during a single session. The file was not closed and reopened. Saving to a new name, closing and reopening, made no difference. Created attachment 131019 [details] The file a few hours before the error was detected.
Created attachment 131020 [details] The file just after the data loss occurred.
The missing sheets between the before and after attachments were deliberately deleted. I also added a sheet between these versions. No sheets were lost, only the data in the sheets disappeared.
Created attachment 131021 [details] The file after I undid and redid the formatting changes from before the data loss I had saved the file after making changes to the last sheet which still contained data. Then I noticed the data loss on the first three sheets. Then I undid and redid the recent formatting and text changes. This file shows the redid changes. Note that this file contains formatting and titles that were also lost from the file immediately after the data loss. It also shows that the data loss, including data, formulas and formatting.
