Created attachment 131139 [details] example file Up to LibreOffice 3.5.7 it was perfectly possible to select a custom page size for printing. This was pretty useful for printing 2 pages per sheet. For example, 2 A5 pages in a A4 sheet, because A4 doubles A5 by design, although something similar could have been done with a 2 A5 in a letter sheet. However, I just have realized that in LibO 4.1.6 it is possible to select the page size for the printer, but the page size is not correctly set after the selection dialog. Moreover, in LibO 5.2 it isn't even possible to select a page size. That limits the capabilities when printing. Even printing to a file (PDF) results in a wrong final page size. Steps to reproduce: 0) Download the example file "specimen.odt". It's just a Lorem Ipsum in A5 pages. 1) Open it with LibreOffice 5.2. 2) Go to the Print Dialog. At this point, the size of the preview shown at left is A5, naturally. 3) Go to Page settings tab, and select to pages per sheet, and then back to the first tab: the page size shown in the preview is still A5. 4) Open the Printer Properties dialog, and try to select another size for your paper size. Result: It's not possible Expected: It is possible as in LibO 3.5: Simply repeat steps from (1) to (4) using LibO 3.5 5) Selelect A4 in the paper size, and exit the Printer Properties dialog Result the preview shows now A4 in size. Additional comments: a) if steps (1) to (5) are repeated in LibO 4.1, the result after exiting the page dialog is that the page size remained unchanged. b) Printing as PDF doesn't work either. I'm attaching several screenshots and PDF that results from that option. In PDF properties, it can be seen that the page size of the PDF generated by LibO 3.5 is A4, and the ones generated by Lib4.1 & 5.2 are still A5. This results in the last picture I'll attach.
Created attachment 131140 [details] Screenshot of LibO 5.2 printer settings dialog As seen in the screenshow, it's not possible to select a custom page size.
Created attachment 131141 [details] Screenshot of LibO 4.1 printer settings dialog Here, one seems able to select a custom page size. But after exiting the dialog, the page size remains in A5.
Created attachment 131143 [details] PDF "printed" using LibO 5.2 This PDF was printed with 2 pages per sheet. If one goes to the PDF properties, one may see that the pages are A5 in their size.
Created attachment 131144 [details] LibO 3.5 printer settings Here, it's perfectly possible to select a custom size, and the selection remains after exiting this dialog. Look at the preview: it shows A4 in the size comments.
Created attachment 131145 [details] PDF "printed" using LibO 3.5 This PDF has been "printed" in A4 page size. One should be able to see it in their PDF propertied dialog.
Created attachment 131146 [details] Picture of the result printed on paper I printed both results: the one that lets you select the page size (3.5) and the one that doesn't allow you. Do you see the difference? Even if the page is set in landscape the result is wrong. (Sadly, I run out of ink and I cant print it again, but I have done it before and thrown those printed to the trash)
This sounds the same as bug 78916, but the reporter says "was previously using LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 which had the same problem." What do you think?

Seems like he misses a real custom size dialog: being able to set up a hight and wide of a custom page. But he states that there are some paper sizes already available, which aren't useful for him. But at least, he can select one of those paper size. In LibO 4.1 that selection isn't respected, while in LibO 5.2 it isn't even possible to select one of the list because the drop-down is deactivated.
Ok, what about bug 94343 ?
(In reply to Buovjaga from comment #9) > Ok, what about bug 94343 ? Good! So there's a workaround for the bug there: one has to manually check "Use only paper size from printer preferences." However, I found it difficult to figure out how one could realize that the option "paper size" is deactivated because a configuration in the Options tab. It was active in LibO 3.5 and 4.1 (though not working properly in the last one). Probably, solving bug 94343 would solve this one, as it could make easier to figure it out how to reactivate the Page size dropdown. So, duplicate?
Yep, let's close. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 94343 ***
