Description Regina Henschel 2017-04-10 17:53:50 UTC
With Index: colors;CMYK you get the page
/text/simpress/guide/palette_files.xhp
Title: Loading Color, Gradient, and Hatching Lists

First error:
The feature to load and save arbitrary palette files has been removed. The content is outdated. But the help needs to explain, the role of the custom palette and the document-color-palette, and it should help admins to provide Custom Indentity colors in a shared palette.

Second error:
The CMYK-palette has been removed. The item in the index has to be removed.

Hi Regina, I am working on this bug but I have a few questions. First, the "load" feature has also been removed for gradients and hatchings as well. Doesn't it make the help page completely outdated?

https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/simpress/guide/palette_files.html

I think this page should be completely removed because it's misleading. There's another page that gives the correct instructions:

https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/sdraw/guide/color_define.html

However it's only available for Draw and should be bookmarked for other LO applications as well.

One thing I'd like to ask you is about a sentence you wrote: "help admins to provide Custom Indentity colors in a shared palette". Could you explain how this is done? (or provide a link that explains it?)

Also, this page on Loading Line Styles is completely outdated.

https://help.libreoffice.org/latest/en-US/text/simpress/guide/line_arrow_styles.html

It is no longer possible to Load .sod files. When this feature was removed?

One of the aims of the new Area dialog was similar use in all modules. So yes, i think it can go to global.

To make it available for all users, changes have to done in share/palette in the installation folder. You can add single colors to one of the *.soc files or you create a new own file e.g. corporate.soc. The files are editable with a simple editor. It is usual XML. And the structure can be seen in the existing files. When the user then starts LibreOffice, the new palette is listed in the drop-down list in the pages, where you can select a color.

It is not removed. Save and load is still on the tabs "Line Styles" and "Arrow Styles" in the dialog, which you get via menu Format or context menu. And besides using that dialog to generate a .sod or .soe file, you can write such files in an editor. You only need to put the file in the palette folder to make them available, similar as with the .soc files.

Note: Extensions are a nice tool to add and distribute custom palettes and other custom objects.
