Already in 4.4. V. 3.6 apparently did not yet understand this sort of thing as, for example, the first line's superscript is all on the same level.

The third line begins with the entire paragraph set to
    w:position w:val="-8"/>
so it doesn't seem like it ought to start as regular - unless by some special rule a paragraph must ignore the position value.

Seems like a MS bug to me.
