screenshot of results

Opening pdf documents in Draw results in symbols rather than the document. Larger pdf documents cause libreoffice to freeze for long periods (5+ minutes).

See attached screenshot.

Running Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64bit version 2.8.8. Libreoffice 4.3.3.2.

Let me know what other info is needed.

The image attached shows you have opened the PDF into Writer not Draw, try resetting your file association--or open from within an open Draw session.

Also, 4.3.3.2 is a very old build, it will not receive any dev effort, please update to a more current 5.2 or 5.3 release build and test again.

Note also that at 5.3 you are now able to insert PDF as an image format in addition to opening into Draw.

Error Message - Draw
Comment 3 ravenkwill 2017-06-07 19:31:37 UTC
Sorry, typo on my part. I meant version 5.3.3.2.

And I opened Draw, went to open, chose the pdf file and clicked open. Then writer opened up as my screenshot showed.

I just tried opening Draw, then opening a pdf file as an image (Insert - Image - pdf then document I wanted) and got a fatal error (screenshot added). Same result with Writer.

On my Windows 10 machine, also using Libreoffice 5.3.3.2, I'm able to open up the pdf file in Draw with no problem.

OK, back to Unconfirmed. Needs Linux for testing, but could you attach a sample PDF that you know is not opening for you on Mint 17.3 w/Cinamon DE

Maybe there is something wrong with your Linux Mint install.

But please attach the file.

Doh! Of course, I should have uninstalled and reinstalled before writing here. It's now working perfectly. Something *was* wrong with my installation.

Sorry about the waste of time.
