Description bloup38 2017-06-07 09:39:24 UTC
Created attachment 133889 [details]
look at the blue squares: some are larger while this is a single dataset

After drawing a graph (xy mode) with 3 sets of data, I wanted to change the size of the symbols.
Unexpectedly, a few symbols of a given dataset kept their original size.

Attached is the printscreen of this bug. As once can see, 4 blue squares are larger than the others.

The problem remains after closing the software and opening again.

Thank you for reporting the bug.
it seems you're using an old version of LibreOffice.
Could you please try to reproduce it with the latest version of LibreOffice from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/ ?
I have set the bug's status to 'NEEDINFO'. Please change it back to 'UNCONFIRMED' if the bug is still present in the latest version.

Thank you for your answer.
Unfortunately, the computer I use is managed by the IT service of my institution, and I cannot update the version of LibreOffice.
On another machine, I have LibreOffice v.5.2.3.2, which is a bit more recent but still not the most recent.

Could you please attach a sample document, as this makes it easier for us to verify the bug?

Dear Xisco Faulí,

Sorry for such a delay to answer.
Please find attached a sample document.
In between, the version installed on my professional computer has been updated to 5.3.4.2. However, the graphical problem is still there.

Unfortunately without clear steps to reproduce it, we cannot track down the origin of the problem.
Please provide a clearer set of step-by-step instructions on how to reproduce the problem.

Dear Xisco Faulí,

the instructions to reproduce the bug are quite straightforward:
- edit the plot
- select a data series (for instance, the blue one)
- edit the data series properties: second tab, the size of the markers

- for instance, go back to the original size: 0.25 cm. The blue series should go back to a homogeneous size.
- edit again the data series, down to another size such as the one I selected (0.10 cm) then the problem should arise: some markers are updated, some other don't.

Basically, I can observe this bugged behaviour with all the files I did the test with, so this is neither file specific, nor data specific.
The common points is I always use X-Y plots (and did not tried with other kind of plots).

Cheers

Hello,

I changed back the status of this report to UNCORFIRMED.

I already provided the relevant information to reproduce the bug:
- the spreadsheet in attachment contains a dataset and a plot.
- I described the method to reproduce the bug (message 2018-01-23):
   - edit the graph in the attachment
   - select the blue dataset
   - edit the properties of this dataset, go to the symbol size part
   - change the size. Only the default value (0.25) gives consistent symbols size on the graph. All smaller sizes (0.1, 0.15, ...) lead to uneven marker size, most of them appearing with the expected (smaller) size, but a few of them appearing with the default (0.25) size, as illustrated in the original attachment (.png file).

Regards

I confirm with the document. However, if I remove the problematic series and recreate it, the problem does not manifest.

1. Double-click to edit chart
2. Click one of the blue squares to select the problematic series
3. Right-click, Format data series
4. Line tab
5. Change the width/height under "Icon"

To recreate:
1. Right-click chart in edit mode
2. Data series, remove the topmost entry ("interpolation...")
3. Add it back with:
Name: $Volcanoes.$BE$2
x-values: $Volcanoes.$BB$3:$BB$93
y-values: $Volcanoes.$BE$3:$BE$93
4. Now play with the data series formatting.

Bloup38: can you tell us, if you are able to see the problem even after recreating the data series? If it is down to some very particular formatting, please tell us exactly how you arrived to it.
