Created attachment 134294 [details] Sample DOC - In Writer, open the attached DOC document having a single comment, with change tracking enabled. - Delete comment and save the file. - Reopen the document in Writer. => Comment is shown as deleted via a change. (can be accepted/rejected) So far seems to be okay, but actually isn't, see conclusion... - Open the document in Word (it shouldn't be). => Comment is there. In Word 2013 the text is not shown, that is a different issue (bug 108772). Conclusion: This appears to be a functional difference, and possible file format limitation in Word, as comment addition/deletion is not tracked there. Observed using LO 5.4.0.1 / Windows 7.
A little copy-paste error in second verification step: :) - Open the document in Word. => Comment is there. (it shouldn't be)
(In reply to Aron Budea from comment #0) > Conclusion: > This appears to be a functional difference, and possible file format > limitation in Word, as comment addition/deletion is not tracked there. Yes: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_word-mso_other/i-need-help-restoring-deleted-comments-on-a/15841ce1-bf70-4b42-85e0-2ae45574c3fa Word's Track Changes feature doesn't track comments, either as they're added or as they're deleted. There's nothing in that copy of the document to restore.
Well we should keep this open anyway..
Yes, the correct behavior would be that the comment should be deleted without tracking.

Repro 6.4+ for both DOC and DOCX.
So with LO 7.0 and Word 2016, I don't reproduce for DOCX. All I see is "something is delete" mark, but no visible comment (in "simple markup") I get the same thing in LO 6.3, so perhaps Timur just needs to turn off "All Markup"? I do see the comment in DOC.
Created attachment 161795 [details] Sample DOC and DOCX in MSO and LO Well, I'm not sure what's going on. With DOC, no comment in MSO with Simple markup and comment seen with All markup. With DOCX from MSO, comment is seen in MSO both with Simple markup and All markup. Should this mean it's just DOCX problem? Test LO 7.1+.

(In reply to Justin L from comment #7) > So with LO 7.0 and Word 2016, I don't reproduce for DOCX. All I see is > "something is delete" mark, but no visible comment (in "simple markup") Which is not correct, is it? It should show no indication of any change that is related to comment addition/removal.
Following the steps in Description with a recent master build, using attachment 134294 [details] (so only reporting for DOC): - Delete comment, save and reload in Writer: extra comment that says "Comment deleted" is added. Accepting all changes results in only the new comment remaining. - Delete comment in Writer, save and open in MS Word: same results. Comment is there and there is no visual sign that its deletion was recorded, but its deletion can be accepted with the Accept button.
